Pink Shirt Day

We all enjoyed Pink Shirt Day - a great way to remember how it is important to spread kindness and aroha to all and respect our differences as well as our similarities.

Cultural Unity Day - Term 2 Week 3

We had so much fun today. First was our Assembly Parade where we saw all the different clothes our friends were wearing. Then we had some visitors - Jamie's Mum - to share a couple of stories from Brazil, and Jaemie's Mum - to share a story from Aotearoa.  Later we had a shared lunch with the whole school and at the end of the day Lau taught us some Samoan words.

Term 2, Week 2

What's been happening this week?  We have started doing some cross country running this Term. We loved walking up Ōwairaka maunga on Thursday, it was a very chilly start to the day but we were lucky to have the sun out. We could see lots of things in our backyard - the Waitakeres, Sky Tower, Rangitoto, Pak n Save, the Waitakeres, other Maunga around Auckland. We also got to be part of a rock band as we learnt about different kinds of music. Congratulations to Jaemie and Harper our certificate winners this week.

Term 2 Week 1

Wow this was a busy start to the Term. We started Te Reo lessons with J'Aime Godinet-Meggitt on Monday. On Tuesday we had a Powhiri, and it was fantastic to welcome all the new students and teachers to Ōwairaka School.

We also had a Year 2 Music concert for the parents. Everyone did a fantastic job and showed they had learnt lots with Ms Landall in Term 1.

Finally, congratulations to our certificate winners - Mose and Alisha for great focus in the Year 2 Concert and Yusra and Jackson for Manawanuitanga.
