Animal classification and counting in 2's

During Maths we have been learning to count in 2's - forwards and backwards. We also tried starting at different numbers.

We have been looking at groups of: 2 groups of 6 = 2 x 6 and 3 groups of 4 = 3 x 4.

We were given lots of pictures of animals and we had to group them. We could group them anyway we liked. Some groups used colour, others groups them by different types of animals. We didn't know where to put the human!

Term 3 Week 1 Matariki

It was great to see everyone back after the break. On Monday we made some shortbread Matariki stars as a way to celebrate Matariki by sharing food together.  We also read lots of Matariki stories, one of them Te Whanau Marama we have been practising a play for. We also learnt some information and wrote about what Matariki facts we had learnt.

We started the week with a Rimu assembly - well done to Masei, Ziva-Snow and Zoya who got certificates for working hard in class.

A Busy End of Term

So as we approached the end of term there were a lot of events and activities. Room 14 had a go at kicking and catching a rugby ball. There was a farewell assembly for Mrs Falava'ai and we wished her well on her retirement. We had funky feet Friday to encourage walking to school. There was the last day Disco also. In maths we were problem solving what different numbers we could make with two die. Endless fun for everyone!
