Decimals and Decipipes
We have been looking at the place value in decimals - tenths and hundredths. We have also been using decipipes to represent decimal numbers and help us to add and subtract them. Look at the slideshow we have created.

End of Term fun!
Room 24 was playing some old style games including Scrabble, Jenga, Twister. As well as building using Zoob and playing Ti Rakau.
We were learning about working together, co-operation, using fine motor skills and our thinking!!! There was also a lot of fun involved.

Siona Fernandes - New Zealand Olympic Ambassador
Siona came to visit us and share with us her journey from Goa, India to New Zealand Olympiad. We learnt about the history of the Olympics as well as some of the attributes required to succeed. It definitely was inspiring. Check out this website to find out more about Siona.
Garden to Table
We had our last Garden to Table session and everyone has thoroughly enjoyed the term of working in both the kitchen and garden. And of course eating all the delicious food!!!
Class trip to MOTAT
What a fantastic trip! We all got to experience some amazing things including 3D printers, learning about and building bridges, having fun at the Sunlight exhibition and seeing how long it would take to run to the moon. We also found out about innovation and looked at the combination of a trampoline and video game.

Life Education with Michelle and Harold the Giraffe
Room 24 went to their life education session on Tuesday. We learnt and talked about empathy and what being a friend means. We also had fun playing some games.
Buddy Class Term 2
We've had good fun with our buddy class in Term 2. We have been finding out about their holiday, reading with them, learning about forces and teaching them how to play Room 24's favourite outside game Great Wall of China.

Garden to Table
Room 24 are excited to be having Garden to Table this Term. We have been preparing and eating some delicious food prepared by the class and learning lots about gardening. Last week we were lucky enough to harvest some kumara from the garden.
Science in a Van
We were lucky to have Science in a Van kick start our Science learning for Term 2. Allen and Emily taught us about the periodic table, how atoms work and all about Solids, Liquids and Gas. Here are a few photos from the show.

Museum Trip
We had a fabulous day last Friday exploring the Auckland museum. Many thanks to all the parents who helped make it such a success.
Kotahitanga - Unity
The school theme in 2017 for inquiry is Kotahitanga. Years 5/6 are looking in particular at Leaving a legacy. This term we are looking at people who have left a legacy. This week we looked at Kate Sheppard and we are making a biocube about her. We are learning to summarise main ideas of what we are reading.

Race relations Day
We had a great Race relations day. It was wonderful to see all the amazing clothes worn by all. The shared lunch was a highlight!. Thanks to Maxine's grandfather coming in and sharing about some English and Chinese culture.
